Ohio State tops it off with a 28-14 win over Texas.
Other wins:
Ohio State over Tennessee
Michigan over Alabama
Illinois over South Carolina
USC over Texas A&M
The only SEC win was Missouri beating Iowa.
The AAC (American Athletic Conference) ended up with the best record at 6-2 and the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) was the worst with an abysmal 2-11 record. The Big Ten had a respectable 10-6 record, while the SEC came in at 8-7.
Looking forward to the first National Championship game in the new playoff era. It would be coincidental if the Buckeyes were to win again, as they also won the first year there was a four-team playoff as well. Currently Ohio State is a rather large 9.5 favorite to win over Notre Dame. They certainly played a stronger schedule, both in the regular season and in the playoffs. In the playoffs, Ohio State had to play Tennessee, then number one Oregon, and then basically play a road game against Texas in the Cotton bowl. Notre Dame played upstart Indiana, a Georgia team missing their starting quarterback, and then Penn State. Obviously, no games are easy at this point and any team that wins three in a row deserves to be in the championship. But certainly, Ohio State had the tougher path.
It was an odd game... Ohio State vs Texas. Even as close as it was, I felt like Ohio State was always sort of in control. If not for all of the penalties, Ohio State might have been up 2-3 TDs in the first half. Seems like very poorly (or well) timed penalties crushed several drives.
Even when it was close... it was like the penalties kept Texas in it. Think about the fact that on that last real drive Texas got two back-to-back pass interference penalties (somewhat ticky-tack) in the End Zone giving Texas basically 5 downs inside the 10-yard line and they still couldn't score.
Play that game ten times and Ohio State wins nine times.
And Texas fans are more arrogant than ‘Bama fans, which I thought was impossible
