About that Chinese balloon controversy

Biden officials claim that they can now go back in time to determine that balloons flew over US airspace while Trump was President

U.S. officials said Monday that improvements ordered by President Joe Biden to strengthen defenses against Chinese espionage helped to identify last week’s spy balloon — and to determine that similar flights were conducted at multiple points during the Trump administration.

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that after Biden took office, the U.S. “enhanced our surveillance of our territorial airspace, we enhanced our capacity to be able to detect things that the Trump administration was unable to detect.”

So apparently this is the nonsense that we are supposed to believe? The idea that we had these balloons flying over the US while Trump was President is literally retroactive, time travel sort of technology that allows us to see things years ago that we missed then. As if somehow, we have old surveillance cameras looking at the sky at all points in time and in all places.

One problem. It wasn't the advanced Biden improvements that alerted the country about the balloon flying over the United States. It was just flat out average everyday Montana Americans who first saw the damned thing floating through the sky.

Are we to believe that the advanced Biden surveillance somehow created greater ability for citizens to see the balloon? Did his new enhanced means of tracking somehow "uncloak" these balloons like it was a Klingon bird of prey that suddenly appears? It would be one thing if our Government was upfront about all of this, but they were not.

Again it was non-military folks just looking up at the sky who alerted the country.

Why is it that Americans were unable to locate any of these previous balloons? I mean they were so large that they apparently could not be safely shot down over Montana, where there are square miles of space where nobody lives. So large that we had to wait for them to enter the ocean before safely shooting it down. So large that even some random bloke in Montana was able to see it. But apparently not large enough that they could previously have been seen.
