The network felt this was fair, because CNN did not do enough fact checking in the Trump-Biden debate
Let's start with this. Live factchecking a debate is a terrible idea that doesn't work to get to the truth more often than not. This is not a football game where you can challenge a call on the field and objectively review video of the play. This is little more than someone being provided the platform to make their own personal beliefs appear to be factual in real time.
As pointed out by many, the factchecking they did against Trump required their own factchecking. They simply were wrong on fact in several examples of them factchecking Trump. Differing opinions and context are not part of "facts" or "fact checking". Moreover, the moderators allowed Harris (who was not part of the first debate) to make statements about well known hoaxes (such as the lie that Trump called white supremacists good people).
I think the most alarming part of all of this, isn't that it was so obvious that their factchecking only went one way, but that they believe that they were in the right to do so. They are admitting to putting a thumb on the scale for one candidate, and demanding that it was the right thing to do. I am not so sure what happens when the general concept of a fair contest falls to the wayside and is replaced by people demanding that fair is not as important as pushing your narrative. This is advocacy journalism pushed into the concept of changing the rules of engagement in a Presidential debate as if that is totally acceptable and even praiseworthy to some.
JUST IN: Ratings for David Muir’s “World News Tonight” TANKED following his disastrous debate moderating GOOD! Viewership for his nightly ABC Newscast dropped by almost ONE MILLION—12%— in the three days following the debate. The American people saw the media bias that night, and they’re FED UP. Now, Muir is on a damage control tour to defend his reputation. He’s feeling the heat!

This is not a new phenomena. Lard-ass Candy Crowley committed career suicide for the sake of getting 0linsky re-elected when she pulled this shit on Mitt Romney. Ironically, everyone made fun of Romney for his Russia observations only to declare Russia our most critical threat with the Steele Dossier.
These fucking shitstains in the drive-by media are willing to do anything to help the left and sabotage the right. Getting away with it with Nixon set the precedent, and they've simply become more…
