Trump gained momentum by staying out the news in 2016 and lost it when he put himself out front. Kamala and her recent interview suggest the same thing might happen to her.
There is a reason why Kamala is running another stealth candidacy similar to what propelled Biden into the White House. They understand that they don't want any focus on Harris herself, but rather on the "vibe" of the campaign and of course on Donald Trump.
Back in 2016, something similar was brewing. As long as Trump just played it cool and did not do anything stupid, he would start to gain in the polls. Hillary was a ridiculously unlikable candidate and the more the attention was on her and all of her baggage, the better it was for Trump. But Trump being Trump couldn't stand not being in the spotlight and would inevitably do something that drew attention away from Clinton and back on him, and then his numbers would start to fade.
While the DNC was focused on the candidacy of Harris, there was very little about Harris herself. This has been pretty much the strategy from the beginning. Focus on the candidacy, the vibe, the story, the joy, but not under any circumstances do we allow the focus to be on who Harris actually is. The DNC was a big infomercial for the Democrats and the story about how they were excited to be unburdened from Joe Biden. Harris was almost an afterthought. Walz was such an afterthought his speech was not even prime time.
I suspect that the Harris interview did not help her at all. Not sure how you watched it and could come away with anything new or positive. Harris refused to even answer the first question in spite of the fact it was asked twice. He constantly looked down, which either suggests she was looking at notes, or was ashamed to say what she was about to say. Her running mate suggested that much of his lying was really about him not understanding the English language well enough to speak grammatically correct. I wasn't trying to lie. I am just not too bright when it comes to words and my words come out as lies.
The Rasmussen tracking shows her losing momentum since the interview. This could be a combination of the DNC buzz fading as well as the fact that the interview did not go all that well for her. I suspect that if they believed that it did do well that they would be lining up a bunch of new ones for her. But there has been little bravado from the campaign and already much of the liberal media is demanding we move on from the Harris not talking to the media story. We'll see if there is any other polling that shows her dropping since the interview. Under normal circumstances, a single interview would not matter much but given the situation and how much unknown there is about Harris Walz, I suspect it had a bigger impact than some would like to believe.
My personal opinion is that Harris will go back into her combination of hiding from the media and unscripted situations and focus on campaign speeches, transcripts, and pre-established messaging. This would be the "smart" thing for them to do. That strategy might not win them an election in the long run, but I think going in the opposite direction would likely lose it for them. Better to have a risky strategy that might work, then a bad strategy that almost certainly backfires.
I'm interested to see just exactly how poorly she's going to fare deprived of her patently obvious and obnoxious "I'm speaking" tactic.
It, and bullshit like it, is a standard leftist move -

"Kamala wants the mics on during the debate so she can do this about 30 times. The day after all we would hear from the MSM is how STRONG she is. "She put Trump in his place!" My gosh is she unlikable. https://t.co/rJv351XZCD" / X

wouldn't doubt it...
She is trying to bait Trump to have the rules of her debate changed to notes, seated and no muted mike (not sure about audience??) Current format may favor Trump but the moderators certainly don't.
